COVID 19 Resources for Dentists

The Governor’s new proclamation issued May 18, 2020 and the Governor’s medium website provides information for Reducing Restrictions on, and Safe Expansion of, Non-Urgent Medical and Dental Procedures.

The ADA, OSHA, and CDC, have published guidelines for healthcare providers. Here are some additional links.

Provider Relief Fund Now Open for Phase 3


The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has started Phase 3 of the Provider Relief Fund (PRF). Applications are open through Nov. 6, 2020.

Phase 3 will impact:
Newly Eligible: Dentists who began practicing Jan. 1 – March 30, 2020.Add-on Payment: All dentists who previously received, rejected or accepted payment from the PRF can submit more information to become eligible for an additional payment.Corrections: All dentists who previously received, rejected or accepted a PRF payment and did not receive approximately 2% of annual revenues from patient care will now receive this amount, plus their Phase 3 allocation.

A licensed dentist who prescribes opioids must register for the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP)!!
Steps for PMP online account Registration:

1. Go to www.doh.wa.gov and type in “PMP” in the search bar. Click on the first result. Click on “Provider Login” and then accept the terms and conditions.
2. Logon to your SAW account. No account? Select 'sign up"
3. In SAW “Add a New Service.” Find PMP in the “Service Menu” under Department of Health.
4. Select “New User” and fill out the PMP registration.

PMP staff members can assist with registration by phone at 360-236-4806 or by email at prescriptionmonitoring@doh.wa.gov


Private Local Dental Professional Facebook Group
Please take a moment to join the new Facebook group “Spokane Dental Network”. This private group is available to all dental professionals in the area and allows group members to openly post about CE, job opportunities, classifieds, dentistry in the news, new license requirements, etc.

Dentist license - 63 hours every 3 years    
Minimal sedation by inhalation (nitrous) - 7 hours every 5 years  
Minimal sedation - 7 hours every 5 years
Moderate sedation permit - 7 hours every 5 years
Moderate sedation with parenteral agents permit - 18 hours every 3 years    
General anesthesia permit - 18 hours every 3 years
Dentist suicide prevention education - 3 hours one-time only
Dentist opioid prescribing education - 3 hours one-time only
Healthcare provider basic life support (BLS) - Currrent certification required
